The Pritzker Prize has been awarded since 1979 and was founded by Chicago businessman Jay A. Pritzker and his wife Cindy. The family owns, among others, the Hyatt hotel chain. Among the recipients of the award include Italian Renzo Piano, the Canadian Frank Gehry, Oscar Niemeyer of Brazil or English Rafael Moneo. Last year they were distinguished Kazuyo Sejima and Nishizawa, founders of Sanaa study in Tokyo.
